Virtual Worship

April 5th, 2020

Welcome!

While we can not gather in person we can still worship as a faith community.   Please leave comments and join in the conversation on our Facebook page.

We are here to accomplish our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

We are here to live into our vision of  sharing God’s love to transform communities and change lives.

We are here to worship God.

April Focus Scripture:  “Again Jesus said: “Peace be with you!  As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”  John 20:21

Announcements

  1.  It is Holy Week!  We are going to be offering a virtual tour of the stations of the cross this week.  Each day we will post two to three stations. Each stations will have a scripture to read, a short reflection, and a picture from the actual Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem.
  2. On Maundy Thursday we are going to be having a Live stream Love Feat.  The Love Feat is a unique liturgy that can be used when the sacrament of communion is not available.  This will be done via Facebook live, and it is BYOB (bring your own bread). Join us on Thursday on Facebook at 6:00 P.M.
  3. We will have a good Friday virtual worship service this year.  Like the Sunday services it will be hosted on our website. It will be available by 3:00 P.M.  For those who do not have a computer it will be sent to you upon request.

Musical Worship

Kay Ridley and Amy Mosher recorded hymns for us to include in our virtual worship.  If you would like to sing along at home, the words can be found here

Prayer

Prepare your heart and mind in an attitude as we approach the throne of God in prayer:

The Lord’s Prayer:  Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever.  Amen.

Children’s Message

We also have an entire packet of Palm Sunday activities to share with you that was made available by the people at Illustrated Ministry.  For coloring sheets and more head here.

Worship Through Giving

Clyde Flory, our worship leader, offers us these words:

“We focus now not on our earthly uncertainties, but to a healthy and joyful God.  Focus as we present our tithes, gift, and offerings.  Bless the gifts of the giver we pray in Jesus name.”

There is not a plate to pass, but we encourage you to make use of our online giving page or make your tithes and offerings through a different format.  We realize these are troubling times and we are thankful for the ways you can continue to support the church.

Scripture Reading

We encourage you to read this morning’s scripture.  If you do not have a bible available, then please consider reading it in one of the following translations you are most comfortable with:

Matthew 21:1-11 (NIV)

Matthew 21:1-11 (NRSV)

Matthew 21:1-11 (KJV)

Benediction

It has become our tradition to hold hands at the end of the service.   Since we can not do that, I encourage you at some point today to reach out and connect with someone.

May you be surrounded by the seditious love of God the Father

May you join  the insurrection of grace led by Jesus the Son

Being filled with the Holy Spirit, may you make disciples and transform the world by being a rebel.

May you live in peace.  Amen.
