Before too long the trustees will let the church know that we are in need of a new roof. Some of you may have noticed the leeks in the sanctuary. The way to really fix the problem is with a new roof. The trustees are getting bids so we know exactly what the costs will be.

In the past the people of North Judson UMC have risen to the occasion when needed. Here is another opportunity for us to step out in faith and make an investment for the future of our church. This would be a 30 year investment because that is the estimated life of the roof.

If you haven't seen the Bishop's Article on the "Convocation of Extended Cabinets," take some time to read through it. In it he gives some pretty good direction for local churches.

Several things caught my eye, but I really liked the following:

Three simple rules for living as United Methodists: “Do no harm; do good; and stay in love with God.”

As many of you know we have been working our way through the Gospel of Mark. Now, after about a year and a half, we are about finished.

Beginning in January of 2008 we will work our way through the New Testament book of Ephesians. Ephesians was written by Paul. It is a fairly short book and you can read through it in a sitting.

If you want to prepare, start reading through Ephesians. What do you see? How does God speak to you through this book? What stands out to you?
